From Marrakech: 2-Day Desert Excursion and Sunset Camel Trek
A 2-day desert trip built around the Moroccan Sahara, with a camel ride across the dunes and guided walking with a local guide along the way.
2 Days · From Marrakech
Our 2-day desert trip departing from Marrakech is one of the favourite choices of our guests. It shows you the Atlas Mountains with a good balance between driving, visits and free time, and it is run by a local team that puts your comfort and safety first.
About This Tour
Leaving Marrakech, the road climbs over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, more than 2,200 metres high, with superb views over the High Atlas. On the other side, the landscape becomes drier and more mineral as you approach the south.
Crossing the Atlas is one of the most scenic parts of any trip in Morocco, with winding roads, valleys dotted with villages and summits that are often covered in snow in winter.
The 2-day programme is flexible: you can start early to make the most of the light, or take things slowly and enjoy long breakfasts and lunches in local restaurants. Accommodation is booked in advance in places we know and trust.
The camel trek is calm and suitable for most travellers. You can also walk next to the camels if you prefer, and stop on a high dune to watch the sunset or sunrise.
The walking parts of the trip are led by a qualified local guide who adapts the pace to the group. Mules can carry the luggage, so you only need a small daypack with water, a jacket and your camera.
