About This Tour
Leaving Marrakech, the road climbs over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, more than 2,200 metres high, with superb views over the High Atlas. On the other side, the landscape becomes drier and more mineral as you approach the south.
Arriving in Merzouga, the first sight of the dunes rising above the flat stony desert is unforgettable. Late afternoon is the best moment, when the sand glows orange and the shadows draw perfect curves on every crest.
Fes is the spiritual and cultural capital of Morocco. Its medina is one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world, full of artisans, old madrasas, fountains and the famous leather tanneries.
The 3-day programme is flexible: you can start early to make the most of the light, or take things slowly and enjoy long breakfasts and lunches in local restaurants. Accommodation is booked in advance in places we know and trust.
At the end of the afternoon you meet your camel and its handler at the foot of the dunes. The caravan slowly makes its way through the sand while the sun goes down, a peaceful moment that is often the highlight of the trip.
For more excitement, the quad bike session lets you ride over the dunes and flat desert tracks with an experienced instructor. Helmets and short instructions are provided, and the ride is adapted to your level.
